I stand here in the pool of Tantalus.
It’s not for fruit or water that I reach,
But something that makes my thoughts scandalous;
Your vow of chastity I looked to breach.
My memory resonates with your scents,
If only this could be, for it feels right.
No other compares with your innocence,
My eyes blinded by your temptuous light.
Deep inside we both know this cannot be.
Why should I torture you, and try to cut
Your strings? From my arms you will always flee,
No matter the perks, your heart remains shut.
We hold each other, terrified to start.
But when was it wrong to follow one’s heart?
