Two Evansville twins will play in one of the world's foremost junior golf tournaments.
Featuring more than 600 golfers from 40 states and 30 countries, the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships is one of the largest and best known junior golf tournaments in the world.
This year's event will be played July 26 through July 28 at the PGA National Course at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Among those competing in the 12-13 year old division will be twin brothers Evan and Cameron Scheller of Evansville. They qualified on June 12 at Deer Creek in Clayton, Indiana, with scores of 74 and 77 respectively.
Those were top two scores in the qualifier and earned the boys a trip to the big event. They say they are really looking forward to it.
"I'm looking forward to meeting all of the kids from around the world and play a good course like that," Evan said.
"Phil and Tiger have won it," Cameron said. "Seven under par won it last year. I can't do that. A lot of good players from all over the world are there, but maybe I can finish in the middle or something."
The boys have been playing the game since age three, but hadn't played any tournament golf at all until last year.
